To Our Dear Customers, Employees and Suppliers: On Tuesday December 7th, 2021 we endured a fire at Smith Castings, LLC. Thankfully production was complete for the day and we did not have any staff in harm’s way or injuries sustained. Unfortunately, the westerly 30% of the production facility sustain significant damage and the fire directly impacted the power and switch gear that feeds the bulk of the plant equipment. A portion of the roof collapsed where the fire was the most intense and this precarious structural issue has made it difficult to quickly and succinctly assess the full scope of the damage and time frame for complete restoration. At this point in time, it has been determined that production will be down for a period of months, not merely weeks. It is too early yet to provide a specific projection and time frame for production to be restored. We have already begun the process of identifying other foundries to partner with and outsource the casting work to them accordingly. Multiple packages of quotes have already been sent out to these partner foundries and we look forward to collaborating with them and being able to provide castings in short order. Subsequently, we will be sending out recently received orders for quote from these partner foundries, but the immediate focus will be to ensure existing orders are fulfilled first. Our intent is to minimize any delay as a result of the recent fire but please do know that there will be some degree of delay, the full extent of which we have not yet been able to quantify, though we are trying. While we do not relish this situation that we find ourselves enduring it is our full intent to rebuild, enhance our operations, and seek to come out the other side of this ordeal a stronger and better foundry.
